Margaret was born Margaret Gibbons on January 23, 1930, the oldest of seven children. She and her family were long-time parishioners of St. Joseph (Collinwood), where the Gibbons family lived for many years on E. 145th Street. Her parents, Thomas and Delia McDonnell Gibbons, were both Irish immigrants from County Mayo, and her father attained the rank of police sergeant.  Margaret attended Ursuline Sacred Heart Academy, graduating from high school in 1948. After graduation, she worked as secretary to the President of The Clark Controller Company, took night classes at then-Fenn College, and participated in an amateur theatrical group at St. John Cathedral.  She married her husband Thomas M. Lynch on July 14, 1951.   Their family would grow to include seven children, eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

At the urging of her mother-in-law, Beatrice Lynch, Margaret joined the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in 1963.  She served in a variety of leadership positions at the chapter, division and county levels. A life member, she was a mentor and friend to many current LAOH members.  In the mid-1960s, she helped to form a mission support group, the Elizabeth Seton Society.

In 1972, she became involved in another newly formed support group, The Coterie of St.  Augustine Manor, now St. Augustine Health Ministries.  First elected in 1990, she served as Coterie President for more than twenty years.  Through its annual Christmas fair and its Top of the Tower benefit, the Coterie raised substantial funds to benefit the mission of serving senior adults.  As President of the Coterie, she also served as a member, and subsequently life member, of the Board of St.  Augustine Manor and as a Board Member of the Catholic Charities Service Corporation.

She lived a life of faith, family, and Irish heritage in Our Lady of Angels parish on Cleveland's west side from 1969 until the time of her death.

The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on the Chambers Funeral Homes Facebook page (link to our Facebook page below):
